Georgia’s Academic/Industrial R&D Partnership is a National Model

The state’s research universities – which generate more than $2 billion a year in public and private R&D funding – work closely together. That’s largely because of the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA), which expands research lab capacity (in talent and technology). Since its founding in 1990, GRA has become the national model for university research collaboration and public-private investment.

GRA Eminent Scholars are the superstar scientists that GRA helps Georgia universities recruit. GRA also makes key investments in the labs of these Scholars, so that they're able to attract more Federal and private research dollars.

From Lab to Bedside: Georgia Brings Discoveries to the Market

Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) helps the universities launch more startups from the inventions and discoveries of their GRA Eminent Scholars and other researchers. GRA's venture development program seeds start-up companies based on university research with investment at a very early-stage, then provides executive guidance to help give startups the best chance of succeeding in the marketplace. GRA Venture Fund, LLC is a separate enterprise that provides more investment and guidance for the most promising startups.
