Larry H. Hanson serves as the executive director of the Georgia Municipal Association. In this capacity, he oversees an organization that provides services in the primary areas of Legislative Advocacy, Training and Education, Retirement and Insurance Benefits and Member Services for 521-member cities.
He also serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System and the Georgia Cities Foundation. Prior to his employment with GMA, he served as City Manager for the City of Valdosta for over 22 years. Hanson was also named one of Georgia Trend’s “100 Most Influential Georgians” in 2018.
He is a graduate of Valdosta High School and Valdosta State University. He has two children and resides in Valdosta.
