ATLANTA, November 13, 2008 – Asian-based Mandarin Oriental will open a luxury brand residential hotel in Midtown in 2011. The company's New York and San Francisco offices will consolidate and bring 35 jobs to Atlanta, which will serve as the U.S. headquarters for Mandarin. The hotel's initial investment will bring $1.6 million to Atlanta.

'Mandarin Oriental is another example of how the core strengths of metro Atlanta continue to attract companies,' said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. 'The airport and the world's largest airline draw global companies like Mandarin to Atlanta. The luxury hotel will change Atlanta's skyline and bring another Asian-based headquarters to the area.'

The 53-story residential hotel will have 198 hotel rooms and 71 condos. The Metro Atlanta Chamber worked in partnership Tivoli Properties, Inc. and the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Atlanta-based Tivoli Properties, Inc., led by founder and CEO Scott L. Leventhal, is the developer.

"Georgia's excellent business climate continues to help international companies like Mandarin Oriental thrive," said Ken Stewart, commissioner of the Georgia Department of International Development. "Our deep pool of young talent and reputation for outstanding customer service will contribute to Mandarin's success in Atlanta as it attracts visitors from around the world and establishes its U.S. headquarters in our state."

The Chamber is focused on Asia as part of its global commerce strategy. Asia plays a very important role in metro Atlanta and across the globe because of the countries' growing economy.

'This exclusive project will raise the bar for hospitality and luxury living in the region,' said Scott L. Leventhal, founder and CEO of Tivoli Properties, Inc. "We are delighted to be working with Mandarin Oriental on this unique hotel and residential offering."

There are currently 20 Asian companies in metro Atlanta, with three having the largest impact:
• Sany Heavy Industry Co. Ltd.
• General Protecht U.S. Inc.
• Kingwasong LLC

Mandarin Oriental currently has 22 hotels worldwide, with U.S. locations in Boston, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Washington. The company has more than 18 hotel projects under development in various locations across the globe.
