Wendell Dallas, Jr.

Wendell Dallas was named vice president of operations for Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas in 2011. He is responsible for day-to-day operations, including safety, compliance, operational excellence and financial performance, for more than 700,000 customers. Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas are subsidiaries of Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources), which serves more than 4.5 million utility customers in seven states.
Dallas has more than 20 years of operations, management and engineering experience in the natural gas industry. Previously, he served as Southern Company Gas vice president of economic and community development, and was responsible for providing strategic leadership throughout the company's footprint. Prior to that, Dallas served as Atlanta Gas Light vice president and general manager. He joined the company in 2000 as a service area manager in Macon, and shortly thereafter served as region manager for southeast Georgia in Savannah.

Dallas came to Atlanta Gas Light from El Paso Energy's Macon office, where he was an operations supervisor. In that role, he was responsible for transmission pipeline operations in central Georgia.

In September 2013, Dallas received the Multicultural Leadership Award by the Georgia Diversity Council for his commitment to advancing his peers in the organization and community. Dallas also serves on several non-profit, community and industry boards. He is a gubernatorial appointee and board chairman of the State of Georgia's Workforce Development Board. He serves on the boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Auburn University's Engineering Alumni Council, and is past board chairman of Gwinnett Technical College and Communities in Schools of Georgia. Dallas is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Atlanta and Leadership Savannah.

Dallas, a native of Opelika, Ala., earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University. He resides in Gwinnett County with his wife and their three children.
