ATLANTA, February 4, 2011 —The Georgia Department of Economic Development announced today that MFG Chemical, a specialty chemical manufacturer, celebrated the grand opening of its newly acquired chemical production facility in Dalton in Whitfield County.  The facility will also serve as the company's corporate headquarters.  This project will create 20 new jobs.

'MFG Chemical represents a unique segment of the manufacturing industry in Georgia, and is a great example of this diverse sector of companies that successfully do business in the state,' said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.  'I am excited to see MFG Chemical take advantage of Georgia's progressive business environment and create a broader presence in Georgia.'

The MFG Chemical Dalton facility brings the company's total number of production plants to three, and will also serve as its technical and product development center.

'This expansion represents a tremendous opportunity for MFG Chemical to better meet the needs of our existing customers and expand our business well into the future,' said Chuck Gavin, president of MFG Chemical. 'It also strengthens our position as a supplier to the specialty chemical markets.'

The company's new plant is located at 1804 Kimberly Park Drive in Dalton, and is situated on a site that provides room for expansion.

'Our JDA board is extremely pleased to see job growth occur within our existing industry base, especially from a company that has demonstrated more than three decades of investment and commitment to our community,' said Elyse Cochran, Executive Director of the Dalton-Whitfield County Joint Development Authority.  'We stand ready to assist MFG Chemical with this and future expansions.'
