Leading E-commerce Company Expands In Glynn County

ATLANTA, September 22, 2011 – The Georgia Department of Economic Development today joined with the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open GSI Commerce's expanded facility in Brunswick, Ga. GSI Commerce, a leading ecommerce company and one of Brunswick's largest employers, has expanded to a new location, creating up to 750 seasonal jobs before the end of 2011.
'This is a great example of how a long and meaningful relationship with a community encourages a company to expand there,' said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. 'The advantages Glynn County can provide in terms of workforce and access to markets have helped the company grow and will contribute to the success of GSI Commerce's expansion.'

'Holidays are right around the corner.  Lots of local employees are needed to handle seasonal volume as online sales are typically higher during the holiday season,' said Jesse Korella, vice president of customer care at GSI. GSI offers a flexible, 'Work at Home' program which provides work-life balance opportunities.

'We are proud to be in a partnership with the State of Georgia, Glynn County and the great people of this area. We have grown with the help of the talented individuals who work here at GSI and the commitment from the community,' said Korella.

GSI has had an existing customer care center in Brunswick but has moved its operations to a larger, 35,000-square-foot building it is leasing at 3045 Scarlett Street.  GSI first opened a facility in Glynn County in 2007. It announced its latest expansion last March. The company was acquired by eBay in June 2011.

"We are delighted that GSI Commerce has chosen to grow their Glynn County presence.  As a newly acquired unit of eBay, this is precisely the type of innovative, technology-oriented business that values Glynn County's Work Ready designation and modern infrastructure network," stated Dave Erickson, Chairman of the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority.

Alyce Thornhill of the Georgia Department of Economic Development managed the project on behalf of the state.
