Georgia Welcomes Sony Ericsson Americas Headquarters to Atlanta

ATLANTA, May 21, 2010 – Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications will locate the company's new Americas headquarters in Atlanta, staffing approximately 180 jobs at the mobile technology company.  The company will lease space in the Terminus 200 Building in the Buckhead community in Atlanta. 'We are pleased to welcome Sony Ericsson to Georgia, which represents yet another major corporate headquarters location for our state, and further enhances our reputation as a leader in innovation,' said Governor Perdue.  'The Atlanta region is known for its pipeline of skilled talent for the technology sector, so it is exciting to see a significant number of meaningful opportunities made available to our workforce.' Sony Ericsson's Americas headquarters in Atlanta will be the hub for the company's regional operations in North America and Latin America.  The company's North America regional headquarters facilities were formerly located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and its Latin America regional hub operations were based in Miami, Florida.  The new headquarters in Atlanta will house a range of employees, including the executive team, sales and marketing staff, and operations. 'Atlanta is an ideal location for Sony Ericsson's new regional headquarters, and we look forward to immersing ourselves in this vibrant community,' said Anderson Teixeira, president of Sony Ericsson Region Americas. 'Access to impressive office space and a diverse pool of talent, combined with close proximity to AT&T, and easy access to Latin America, make Atlanta an obvious choice for relocation. This move will also encourage even stronger collaboration with our partners as we launch innovative and exciting new products in this market.' The company's new Atlanta location also puts it in close proximity to the innovative research and development being done at the region's world-class colleges and universities.  Sony Ericsson's operator partner AT&T is also based in Atlanta, so the Atlanta location will provide strategic opportunities for stronger collaboration.
