ATLANTA, August 1, 2013— The Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, a division of the Department of Economic Development, will continue its yearlong 40th anniversary celebration with a special screening of the Georgia-lensed 'Zombieland' at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, August 29 at 7:30pm. 'The Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at the Fox Theatre is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of film and television productions in Georgia with the industry, visitors, and locals, said Lee Thomas, Director of the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office. 'Started by Governor Jimmy Carter in 1973, the film office has assisted with more than 700 feature film productions since its inception, including Sony Pictures' runaway hit 'Zombieland,' which began an epidemic of zombie projects in the state.' Prior to the screening of the Georgia-filmed 'Zombieland,' attendees are invited to take part in a costume contest for a chance to $1,000 in prizes and a pair of one-day memberships to Dragon Con on Labor Day weekend in Atlanta. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at 6:30pm dressed like a zombie or their favorite Georgia-filmed movie character. The winners of Georgia Tourism's 'Homegrown with a Twist' Summer Celebration video contest will also be announced and shown on the big screen.
