Georgia Council for the Arts Announces New 'Inspired Georgia' Photo Exhibit

ATLANTA, September 14, 2017 — The Georgia Department of Economic Development's Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) today announced the host cities for their Inspired Georgia photo exhibit tour. Georgia communities hosting the exhibit include Zebulon, Milledgeville, Rome, Vidalia, Statesboro, and Albany. 'We are thrilled to be able to partner with institutions across Georgia to share an exhibit of the images featured in Inspired Georgia,' said Karen Paty, executive director of the Georgia Council for the Arts.  'Each venue will serve as a host for these remarkable photographs as well as literary events celebrating local poets. Together, the book, the exhibit and these readings allow us to further champion the incredible artists that by birth or by choice, have found their muse in Georgia.' The book, Inspired Georgia, is a co-publication with Georgia Council for the Arts, Georgia Poet Laureate Judson Mitcham, Atlanta Celebrates Photography and Georgia Humanities. Inspired Georgia is a unique collection of Georgia's contemporary poets and photographers that engages the history and culture of the state, while serving as a document of some of the best and most powerful pieces penned by Georgia poets and images shot by Georgia photographers in recent years. The book was recently named one of the ten 'Books All Georgians Should Read' for 2017 by the Georgia Center for the Book and was a finalist in the specialty book category for the 'Georgia Author of the Year.'
