Domtar's EAM Corporation will create up to 25 jobs in a multi-million dollar expansion

Georgia state logo ATLANTA, July 1, 2014—The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced today that Domtar Personal Care, a division of Domtar Corporation, will expand its existing facility, creating 25 jobs with a multi-million dollar capital investment into its EAM facility in Wayne County. 'Domtar has been an excellent addition to our solid advanced manufacturing network,' said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. 'This state-of-the-art manufacturing company continues to take advantage of our advanced workforce and ease of access to the Port of Savannah, among other pro-business resources. It's clear that Domtar made the right choice and they will continue to better support their customers through this expansion in Wayne County.' The Domtar facility manufactures composite products for personal care use. The expansion will increase the current EAM facility by 25 percent.  Domtar's facility in Wayne County currently exports part of its production through the Port of Savannah, which will increase with this expansion. Work on the expansion has already begun, with land clearing provided by the Wayne Industrial Development Authority (IDA). Construction is set to begin later this year. 'Domtar's confidence in investing in Wayne County is due to the availability of a skilled workforce and raw materials and its geographic location to the ports,' said Lee West, group VP – supply chain & IT and general manager of Domtar's absorbent materials. 'We continue to be impressed with the management of EAM and their ability to design and produce products that keep Domtar competitive. Wayne County's Industrial Development Authority responded immediately to our interest which means a lot to Domtar. We do business all over the world and it's important to invest in communities that are eager to work with us to help ensure continued success. This was a competitive process and the IDA's efforts were critical to our decision to build this expansion in Wayne County." 'Our mission is to create jobs and it's a fact that most new jobs are created from existing business and industry,' said Randy Franks, chairman of Wayne IDA. 'We are focusing on how we can help our current industries expand and hire more people. This is a direct result of that effort. The expansion will be built behind EAM's current facility on land owned by the Wayne County Industrial Development Authority.' 'We are grateful that Domtar allowed us to compete for this expansion,' said John Riddle, president of Wayne IDA. 'We are also grateful for the Wayne County Commission and their support of our economic development efforts, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Georgia Power for their help in making this expansion a reality.' Ryan Waldrep, GDEcD regional project manager, who assisted the company on behalf of the state and Peggy Jolley, Georgia Power's regional economic development manager, worked with John Riddle at the Wayne County Industrial Development Authority in assisting the company.
