Atlanta to Host Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo

Georgia state logo ATLANTA, September 30, 2009 - The Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA) has announced the theme for its third annual Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE). Scheduled for Oct. 2 - 4, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Atlanta Perimeter NW (Powers Ferry Rd), SIEGE 2009 focuses on the connections that fuel the fast-growing video game industry in the southeast. Interactive entertainment and games are two of the few technologies that unite artists, musicians, computer programmers, designers, writers, teachers, and business executives. Games know no boundaries, connecting people across generations and geography. The Internet and mobile devices are only increasing the number and pace of those connections. As the Southeast's leading gaming and interactive conference, SIEGE brings together students and professionals from across the region to celebrate the world of gaming. Its sponsors include a wide variety of companies and organizations, including CCP; Georgia's Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office, Hi-Rez Studios, Kaneva and more. Along with a job fair and three days of keynote addresses, panels, workshops, and tournaments, SIEGE 2009 explores the connective power of games through art, through technology, and through business. SIEGE's speakers include leading figures from a wide spectrum of the industry, including artists, programmers, designers, writers, teachers and business executives. Other speakers include government figures, experts on computer game violence, social issues, and more. Special events include game design tournaments, game playing tournaments, parties, a job fair, and a student fair for high school students and others looking for colleges. The event has attracted a variety of sponsors, including the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office. Conference sessions cover such areas as the latest software, game design techniques, business issues, starting a new company, and more.
