2017 BIO International Convention

In Georgia, an idea can be born, researched, tested, commercialized, produced then delivered to quickly to almost anywhere in the world. Through continuous investment in the healthcare and bio industry, we continue to attract top companies from across the globe.
To this end, representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development's global commerce, international trade, marketing and communications teams traveled to San Diego last week to attend the largest global event for the biotechnology industry: 2017 BIO International Convention. This year, we were joined by 16 Georgia-based biotechnology companies, who are a product of our efforts in creating the best business environment in the nation.

BIO provides opportunities for attendees to network and partner with the biggest names in biotech. It provides insights and inspiration on the major trends affecting the medical and biotechnology industry. Participants are able to attend keynotes and sessions from focusing on policy issues, technology innovations and budding trends.

In the Georgia pavilion (#3417), we hosted a Speaker's Series where companies had the opportunity to present to BIO attendees, and tell everyone what makes their company so unique. The 30-minute presentations were met with great crowds, and we had many people stopping by our pavilion to watch.

Director of Life Sciences and Corporate Solutions, EJane Caraway, also had opportunities to chat with media outlets on Georgia's efforts in providing the cost-effective solutions to life sciences, bio and healthcare companies through access to a highly skilled workforce, attractive business incentives, cutting-edge research and a world-class global infrastructure.

We are excited to see successes from the opportunities at the 2017 BIO International Convention, and look forward to continuing our efforts to tout our No. 1 business environment!
