Ripple Effect Film Project Now Accepting Submissions

The Ripple Effect Film Project invites filmmakers of all ages and abilities from around the state of Georgia to submit short films and public service announcements that focus on our connection to the ocean. Finalists' films will be showcased at the Blue Carpet Premiere at the historic Morton Theater in Athens, Georgia on March 25, 2017. The deadline for entry is January 31, 2017.

Filmmakers can submit a short film (1-4 minutes) and/or a public service announcement (30 seconds). Winning PSAs will be shown in local theaters in summer 2017. Cash prizes will be awarded.

New theme for 2017! Consider the impact of human behavior on the world's oceans. What actions do we take (or not take) each day that may affect ocean health, regardless of where we live? We make daily choices about our energy and water use, transportation, food, consumer products and keeping our waterways clean. Films should focus on a key issue from the "Ocean Connections" list (see official rules), and should establish a connection between the key issue and the health of the ocean. Ideally the films will highlight eco-positive actions that 'do the right thing' for the ocean.
