Procter & Gamble to expand Albany operation

GA_USA_vertical_smallATLANTA, Sept. 25, 2007 – The Georgia Department of Economic Development and Procter & Gamble announced today that P&G's location in Albany, Ga., will boost its production capacity in the next year. The expansion will create up to 34 new jobs and represents an investment of $25 to $35 million in the next year.
'Just like P&G, the state of Georgia competes in world markets every single day to grow our economic capacity,' said GDEcD Commissioner Ken Stewart. 'Having a company like P&G choose to expand in Georgia is a testament to our strong workforce, superb logistics network and low operating costs.'

This is the latest of a series of expansions for the Procter & Gamble facility in Albany, which began operating in 1972 and now employs 1,200 workers. The Albany plant produces Bounty towels, Charmin Bathroom tissue and ThermaCare therapeutic heat wraps. The expansion will enable the company to add a new converter line, thus boosting its production capacity.
