Georgia Council for the Arts awards grant funding to sixty-six organizations

Georgia state logoATLANTA, July 2, 2013—Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) has awarded grant funding for fiscal year 2014 to 66 organizations throughout the state. Just under $1 million in funding will be distributed for operating support (Partner Grant) or arts projects (Project Grant).  Nine organizations also received support for exceptional arts education programs.  Additionally, three performing arts entities were accepted onto GCA's Touring Artist Roster. Funds awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. "This year's grant cycle was exceptionally competitive and the funded organizations provide some of the most outstanding programming and services in the state,' said GCA director Karen Paty.  'The extraordinary quality work done by these organizations has a meaningful economic and community impact at both a state and local level.  We are pleased to be able to support this work and look forward to working in partnership with these institutions over the next 12 months." As a result of GCA's recently completed strategic planning process, the FY14 grant program was restructured to provide broader access to GCA grants and a stronger focus on community impact. Grant recipients include theaters, dance companies, museums, literary organizations, libraries, cities, schools, colleges and multi-discipline arts entities.  A complete list of FY14 grantees is below: Partner Grants: •         Albany Symphony Association, Inc. •         Alliance Theatre •         Arts Clayton, Inc. •         Athens Clarke Unified Government •         Atlanta Ballet, Inc. •         Atlanta Celebrates Photography •         Atlanta Shakespeare Company •         Atlanta Symphony Orchestra •         Augusta Symphony, Inc. •         Aurora Theatre, Inc. •         Ballethnic Dance Company, Inc. •         Callanwolde Foundation, Inc. •         Clarkston Community Center, Inc. •         Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County •         Dance Canvas, Inc. •         Deep Center, Inc. •         Flux Projects, Inc. •         Georgia State University/Rialto Center for the Arts •         Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Inc. •         Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art •         gloATL, Inc. •         Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association •         Horizon Theatre Company •         Joel Chandler Harris Association/The Wren's Nest •         LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, Inc. •         Macon Film Festival, Inc. •         Moving in the Spirit •         Out on Film, Inc. •         Rachel Longstreet Foundation •         Savannah Philharmonic Corporation •         Several Dancers Core •         The Michael O'Neal Singers, Inc. •         Theatrical Outfit •         Thomasville Cultural Center, Inc. •         True Colors Theatre Company •         Tubman African American Museum •         VSA arts of Georgia Inc. •         Young Audiences •         Youth Ensemble  of Atlanta Project Grants: •         Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Arts Connection •         Atlanta Chinese Dance Company •         Atlanta Freedom Marching Band •         Atlanta Landmarks, Fox Theatre •         Augusta Ballet, Inc. •         BURNAWAY •         C4 Atlanta, Inc. •         Carrollton Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department •         Cherokee Regional Library System (Dade) •         City of Savannah, Department of Cultural  Affairs •         Clayton State University/Spivey Hall •         Friends of Calhoun's GEM Theatre, Inc. •         Full Radius Dance •         Historic Augusta, Inc. •         JapanFest, Inc. •         Manga Dance •         Mary Willis Library •         Milledgeville Baldwin Allied Arts, Inc. •         One Love Generation, Inc. •         Phoenix Theatre Academy, Inc. •         Pike Historic Preservation, Inc. •         Savannah College of Art and Design: Performing Arts •         Savannah Danse Theatre •         South Georgia Ballet •         The Essential Theatre, Inc. •         University System of Georgia/ UGA Performing Arts Center •         Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus Arts Education: •         Albany Symphony Association, Inc. •         Arts Clayton, Inc. •         Atlanta Shakespeare Company •         Clayton State University/Spivey Hall •         Deep Center, Inc. •         Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art •         Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association •         Joel Chandler Harris Association/The Wren's Nest •         Moving in the Spirit •         Tubman African American Museum •         Youth Ensemble Atlanta Touring Artist Roster: •         Atlanta Pop Concerts •         Myrna Clayton •         The Celtic Company About Georgia Council for the Arts Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) is a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and its mission is to cultivate the growth of vibrant, thriving Georgia communities through the arts.  GCA provides grant funding, programs and services statewide that support the vital arts industry, preserve the state's cultural heritage, increase tourism and nurture strong communities.  Funding for Georgia Council for the Arts is provided by appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
