Dow Formulated Systems Announces New Jobs

Georgia state logo ROBERTA, GA., February 7, 2011– Dow Formulated Systems, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company,a today announced the completion of an agreement with the Crawford County Development Authority. This new arrangement will help add four new, full time manufacturing jobs to the Dow manufacturing site located in Roberta, GA. It will also enable Dow's facility to produce an additional ten million pounds of 'Epoxy Systems' per year.  Epoxy Systems are specialty formulations based on epoxy resins, a plastic-like material known for its strength, endurance and flexibility.  Epoxy Systems produced in the Roberta plant are used primarily in the fabrication of wind turbine blades. This project is part of Dow's overall and ongoing investment in the state of Georgia and will have a ripple effect that will benefit the state's citizens,' said Cara Leigh Baggett, Production/Site Leader for The Dow Chemical Company. 'I particularly want to thank Charlie Westberry and Brenda Carroll of the Development Authority of Crawford County; Benjamin Hollis, Vice-Chairman of the Crawford County Commission; D'Lyn Jones, Crawford County Chief Appraiser; Jennifer Nelson of the Georgia Department of Economic Development; Laura Mathis, Director of Public Administration for the Middle Georgia Regional Commission; and the citizens of Crawford County for their dedication and support in seeing this project become a reality.'
