ATLANTA, June 10, 2010 — Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Dayton Superior, a Dayton, Ohio-based manufacturer of construction products, will locate one of its primary manufacturing and distribution facilities in Braselton in Jackson County. With this project, the company will create 90 direct jobs in its first year of operations, and will invest approximately $15 million in the region's economy.  The company will add an additional 50 jobs in its second year. 'We welcome Dayton Superior to Jackson County and Georgia,' said Governor Perdue. 'Georgia's location and skilled workforce makes the state an ideal location for manufacturing and distribution operations like Dayton Superior's.  I look forward to the positive economic impact the company will bring to the Braselton community and our state.' The Dayton Superior Braselton location represents a major investment for the company, which plans to make the 192,000-square-foot facility its primary manufacturing and distribution center in the Southeast. 'When we considered how to position our company for long-term growth, operations and location were a key factor,' said Rick Zimmerman, Dayton Superior president and chief executive officer.  'We wanted a stronger manufacturing and distribution presence in the southeast, and our investment in the new Braselton facility in Jackson County was central to that strategy.' This new facility provides the company with additional capacity to produce its market-leading line of concrete accessories and chemicals, and includes a state-of-the-art distribution center.  Sixty to 70 percent of all the products Dayton Superior offers will be available through its Braselton operation, making it a 'one-stop shop' for construction businesses in the Southeast. 'So much of what we want to accomplish is dependent on finding the right combination of location, workforce, training and business climate,' said Zimmerman.  'We believe we've made the right investment—one that will benefit both our industry and the region.' 'Dayton Superior is one of the nation's top suppliers to the construction industry and will be a great asset to our community, creating additional jobs and investment,' said Shane Short, president and CEO of the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce.  'Jackson County is excited to welcome Dayton Superior to Braselton, and extends its thanks to the Georgia Department of Economic Development and to all others involved in helping bring the company to Braselton.' Georgia's nationally recognized Quick Start workforce training program will assist Dayton Superior's manufacturing operation in preparing new hires for work at the Braselton facility.  Quick Start provides customized workforce training free-of-charge as an incentive for companies to create new jobs in Georgia. Georgia Department of Economic Development project manager Anne Stafford assisted the company with this location.
