The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) solves the most complex technical problems facing government in Georgia, across the nation and around the globe. Much of GTRI’s work with the U.S. federal government supports security and defense.
In addition, its Cyber Technology and Information Security Laboratory conducts applied research focused on cyber threats and countermeasures, secure multi-level information sharing, and reverse engineering among other things.

Georgia Tech offers certifications in nine defense technology areas, including modeling and simulation via its Defense Technology program.
