Child-care tax credits help Georgia companies afford child care benefits, an invaluable perk for recruiting and retaining top talent.
Georgia’s child-care tax credit program provides tax credits equal to:
- 100 percent of the cost to buy or build qualified child care facilities. Credits are claimed over 10 years, at 10 percent per year.
- 75 percent of the costs of providing or sponsoring licensed child care for employees. Credits are claimed on an annual basis.
Child-care tax credits can offset up to 50 percent of a company’s Georgia income tax liability in a given year. If the earned credit exceeds that limit, then unused credit can be carried forward and applied to future years’ tax liability.
