International Relations

Georgia is home to a vibrant, active diplomatic and consular community, the world’s most traveled airport, the fastest-growing container seaport in the nation and 18 Fortune 500 company headquarters. With these assets, the state welcomes an ever-increasing number of government delegations, official and business travelers, tourists and new residents from around the world.

The International Relations division at the Georgia Department of Economic Development strategically cultivates and expands Georgia’s international relationships. The office oversees communications and activities with foreign governments and is the state’s liaison to members of the Consular Corps, Trade Commissions and Bi-National Chambers of Commerce.

The International Relations division also manages gubernatorial economic development missions abroad, greets international delegations and dignitaries in-state and coordinates international efforts among state agencies, economic development organizations, communities and private sector partners.

The International Relations team can provide:

  • protocol guidance, including gift-giving, cultural awareness and travel recommendations
  • support for Georgia communities hosting international visitors and dignitaries
  • introductions to appropriate state agencies, missions or governments regarding official documents
