International Trade

Georgia stands at the crossroads of the Americas with the world’s busiest and most efficient passenger airport, two deep-water ports, and the most extensive surface transportation network in the country. In 2012, $39.8 billion in exports and $72 billion in imports passed through these ports, making Georgia the 12th-largest export state and 9th-largest import state in the U.S.

GLOBAL TRADE - INTERNATIONAL SALES AND EXPORTS
Promoting Georgia in strategic international markets is essential to keep Georgia competitive, and we’re here to help Georgia companies access those markets. GDEcD’s extensive global contacts and nationally recognized international trade services helps hundreds of companies each year expand their business internationally through exports.

GLOBAL TRADE - INTERNATIONAL SALES AND EXPORTS
In Georgia, we know companies that sell overseas create twice as many jobs as those only selling in the U.S. market. They grow an average of 18 percent faster, and their workforce is typically 10 to 15 percent more productive. International sales volume also helps lower overall production costs and leads to increased profitability. The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) award-winning International Trade Team works with small- and medium-size Georgia companies to enhance their export sales to international markets.

GDEcD’s nationally-recognized International Trade Services help good companies become better companies through exporting. Exporting is not just about increasing profits; it is also about diversifying markets, and gaining a competitive edge through global exposure to new technology, innovations and competition.
