General Motors to Open Innovation Center in Georgia

General Motors (GM) will soon open an IT Innovation Center in Georgia, investing $26 million. GM considers Georgia to be one of the top states in the country for IT talent, and has therefore chosen Roswell for the Innovation Center, one of only four planned for the United States. The Georgia Department of Economic Development partnered with the City of Roswell to help GM with its Georgia location.

This video features two GM vice presidents — VP and CIO Randy Mott and VP Europe Powertrain Micky Bly — explaining why GM chose to open its IT Innovation Center in Georgia. Mott and Bly highlight Georgia’s talent pool as a major draw for GM. Georgia offers both a “skilled veteran workforce” and “bright university graduates,” according to Gov. Nathan Deal.

GM has a long history of employment in Georgia. Its new Innovation Center will be housed in a 228,000-square-foot facility on Warsaw Road. The Innovation Center will bring 1,000 jobs to Georgia.

The Innovation Center will hire IT professionals, including software developers, database experts, project managers, and business analysts.
