In Georgia, museums tell a lot about people and who they are.
The High Museum of Art Atlanta is one of America's top museums and is considered a crown jewel in the Southeast. Founded in 1905 and located in Midtown's art district, the High is home to over 11,000 permanent works in its collection. Midway Museum, Church and Cemetery, located in historic Midway, GA, was the home to numerous historical figures dating as far back as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. A tour of the Museum will provide you with information on the descendants of the area including signers of the Declaration of Independence. The Midway Church, built in 1756, was burned during the American Revolution and rebuilt in 1792. In this simple white-frame church, Sherman’s cavalry set up foraging headquarters during the Civil War. The cemetery is home to two generals of the American Revolution. During the Civil War, Sherman’s cavalry corralled animals in the walled, two-acre cemetery.
