Warm Springs

Georgia’s history is American history, and a piece of pure Americana can be found in Warm Springs. Located 90 minutes south of Atlanta in middle Georgia, Warm Springs is not only filled with the warm waters that made it famous, it’s filled with a warm spirit as well.

The springs that gave the town its name were discovered long before settlers arrived in the New World. Native Americans used the warm waters and natural springs, which flow from the side of Pine Mountain, as a source of healing. Later, settlers and travelers alike came seeking the quiet, scenic beauty that the area offered, and named the new settlement Warm Springs.

This quaint town was put on the international map when President Franklin D. Roosevelt used the springs while seeking a cure for polio. He loved the area so much he built his home in Warm Springs. Known as the “Little White House,” this home served as a comfortable retreat for the president and was also where he died in 1945. You can visit FDR’s Little White House today and experience the legacy of his presidency. See the Memorial Fountain, the Walk of the States, the site’s museum and more at this historic presidential landmark.

In addition to the legacy of the springs, you’ll find hospitality, fine dining and a busy calendar of events to fill your days and warm your heart. From the covered bridge built by freed slave and self-taught engineer, Horace King, to the adventure-filled FDR State Park – Warm Springs offers you access to a community rich in history and the outdoors. Plan your next trip to the Warm Springs area and shop its historic village, hike nearby Pine Mountain or fish the Flint River.

Come and experience Georgia and America in Warm Springs – a town sure to warm your heart.
