Columbus

Located along the banks of the Chattahoochee River, Columbus offers the perfect blend of modern and historic culture. Start by experiencing the history of Columbus with a tour of the city’s Historic District, a visit to the birthplace of Coca-Cola – Dr. John S. Pemberton’s residence, and exploration of the remains of two original Confederate Navy ships and the nation’s only Civil War ironclad combat simulator at the Port Columbus National Civil War Naval Museum.

For out of this world fun, journey to the moon, Mars and beyond at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center where you can watch the sky come alive in the Mead Observatory, explore the depths of the galaxy in the Omnisphere Theater or discover something new in the Challenger Learning Center.

Travel north to Callaway Gardens and Resort and explore the 14,000-acre garden, Day Butterfly Center, Sibley Horticultural Center or Birds of Prey show. Sport enthusiasts can get their competitive fix enjoying golf, tennis, walking or biking trails and fishing located on the grounds. To experience a bit of presidential history, stop by a home owned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the “Little White House” in Warm Springs.

When the sun goes down, Columbus transforms into a cultural hotbed. You can take in a show at the Springer Opera House, where classic performances have entertained for more than 134 years. Experience a bit of Broadway at the $65 million, state-of-the-art RiverCenter for the Performing Arts or get a ticket for one of the many national entertainment acts that perform in the Columbus Civic Center. Whether it’s fast-paced fun or casual exploration, Columbus is rich with possibilities.
