Atlanta Metro
View Georgia Regional Map
Dynamic, bustling and surprising, the Atlanta Metro area has attractions as diverse as the four million people who call its many communities home. Discover antique treasures or go mall hopping; visit world-class museums or fine art galleries; enjoy the great outdoors or an amusement park; stroll historic sites. You’ll find surprises and delights around every corner throughout the entire metro area.
The Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium, includes eight million gallons of fresh and marine water and is home to more than 100,000 animals representing 500 species from around the globe.
The Georgia Grown Farmer’s Market is the world’s largest open air, roadside fruit and vegetable stand, boasting 150 acres, open seven days a week, 364 days a year. Come discover what 3,500 people a day have found – fresh fruits and vegetables vendors, international spices distributors, basket wholesalers, a restaurant and a welcome center.
The High Museum of Art, in midtown Atlanta, is home to a wide-ranging and evergrowing collection of fine art. Three new buildings more than double the museum’s size, allowing the High to display more of its growing collection. An unprecedented partnership with the Musée du Louvre in Paris will bring hundreds of works of art from the Louvre’s collection to the High in October 2006.
Want to see a turtle crawl into your lap, or a deer who believes he is human and loves to ride in the back of a truck? Noah’s Ark rehabilitates more than 1,000 animals each year and has a resident population of 800 to 900 animals. Walk the nature trails, visit the animal habitats and witness the power and effectiveness of love.
Chase history to the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History. The museum brings the Civil War to life by interactively chronicling the Great Locomotive Chase through film, artifacts and the stolen locomotive (the “General”).
Stone Mountain Park, home to the largest exposed piece of granite in the world, is one of the United States’ most popular attractions, hosting more than four million visitors annually. The exciting “Ride the Ducks” adventure takes visitors on a 40-minute land-and-water tour throughout the park. Visitors can also experience Crossroads, a recreation of a 1870s rural southern town that brings the 19th century to life.
