With strong talent, a spirit of collaboration between public, private and academic communities and access to the world, Georgia is the crossroads of global health. Our work in biology and health care is nurtured by the technology partnerships and funding sources that drive Georgia to the forefront of the global community of life science innovation. In fact, our bio- and life-sciences industry has a $7 billion impact on our state’s GDP and employs more than 60,000 people. This is in addition to our tremendous research university network that has an $800 million impact on the state’s GDP and employs almost 15,000 people to facilitate the advancement of life science innovation.

(Right: Georgia's pavilion at the recent 2010 International Bio Convention in Chicago.) Some 1,800 companies helped conduct 14,000-plus one-on-one partner meetings. Also in attendance were numerous Georgia-based companies, as well as state universities, hospitals, and research institutions that support the industry.
