Digital Media
The state of Georgia has the necessary assets to be an active partner in the growth and development of digital media companies, evidenced by the success of leading companies like CNN, Turner Broadcasting Systems and Cisco Systems. Emerging media industries such as game development, animation and interactive entertainment are booming across the state as well. Video game production expenditures in Georgia saw an overall economic impact of $28,471,760 in 2009 and with the state’s talent base and leading high-tech research institutions, Georgia provides the means to help the industry grow and thrive.
Financial Services Technology
According to the 2009 American Banker and Bank Technology News FinTech 100, four of the top twenty financial service technology companies—NCR, First Data, TSYS, Equifax—are now headquartered in Georgia, and several others have major operations here.
Healthcare IT
When it comes to Healthcare IT or Healthcare informatics (the intersection of information science, computer science and health care) Georgia ranks as the top state by revenue, with over $4B in revenue generated by Georgia companies, making the state one of the leading Health IT clusters in the U.S.
Research and Development
Georgia has resources to help companies thrive. Institutions like the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology, which develops the latest technologies and applications in communications, computing and content processing, and the Advance Technology Development Center (ADTC), an incubator devoted to launching new technology companies, establish Georgia at the forefront of innovation and corporate development.
Talent
The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) produces some of the best minds in the country and is ranked fourth in the nation for its graduate engineering programs. To meet the technology industry’s increasing need for pioneering and technical skills, Georgia’s world-renowned universities provide a rich environment for research and innovation.
Each year, 44,000 Georgia graduates enter the State’s labor force. With Atlanta as the top-ranking city in the U.S. for growth in highly-educated people ages 25-34, Georgia’s pipeline of technology talent is virtually limitless.
