Small Business Regulatory Reform Initiative

On March 6, 2006, Governor Sonny Perdue signed an Executive Order to initiate a more streamlined process in which Georgia businesses can obtain regulatory assistance. Commissioners and directors from all the partner agencies have committed to this effort and together, these key steps have been put into place:

• A small business liaison from each state agency has been selected. This liaison will be the ‘go-to person’ responsible for responding to each query regarding regulations for that particular agency. This will help alleviate the transferred calls, dropped calls, voice mails and time wasted for the business caller.

• A new toll free number, 877-REGS-4-GA (877-734-7442) where calls will be qualified and directed to the proper agency liaison.

• A new website has also been developed: regs4ga.org is where Georgia businesses can find specific regulations and related helpful resource links.

• All queries will be tracked on a monthly basis by GDEcD in order to identify trends, most frequently asked questions or the most recurring concerns. Liaisons are the key to the succes of this program as they are the sole reporting source for this initiative.

• SBRRI reflects multi-state agency cooperation in that we are willing to make this work to ensure that Georgia’s small businesses experience a more efficient and friendlier means to getting their regulations questions heard and answered.

• An annual progress report will be submitted to the Governor.

• SBRRI ties in with the Commission for a New Georgia Customer Service efforts.
