The Sister Cities International (SCI) program became a part of Georgia's landscape in 1967 when Brussels, Belgium and Salzburg, Austria entered into a cultural and commercial partnership with Atlanta. Four decades later some 50 cities representing 25 countries have connected with more than a dozen Georgia cities to help foster a greater understanding between our diverse cultures. Among the many goals sought by SCI is the promotion and implementation of economic development. To that end, the peace and friendship that comes from Georgia's participation helps define the mission and success of this program.
