Biosciences
Georgia boasts a diverse biotechnology industry of more than 200 new and existing companies in the fields such as pharmaceuticals, medical instruments, agriculture and genetic engineering. It is home to the
U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and world-class research universities that have sprouted incubators and centers for innovation to pioneer significant advances in biotechnology.
Georgia offers collaboration between academics, business leaders, economic development groups, and public resources through partnerships like the
Georgia Research Alliance (GRA), the
Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), and the
Georgia Bio (GaBio) as well as 12 advanced research centers.
Georgia’s biotech industry has more than doubled in the past decade and is now ranked eighth among all 50 U.S. states.
The state’s fast-growing activities in the biotechnology industry have helped attract BIO 2009 to Atlanta who will host the BIO International Convention May 17-20, 2009 at the
World Congress Center. To find out more about Atlanta's biotech industry, please visit
