In Georgia, visionary ideas are nurtured by state-of-the-art technology, private-public partnerships and, funding resources that enrich work in the life science industry.

Public and private organizations are transforming ideas into reality through many innovative programs established in Georgia. The Emory Vaccine Center’s faculty works to prevent emerging infectious diseases. The Winship Cancer Institute, Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC) and the American Cancer Society improve cancer education, treatment and research by coordinating talent, research technology and funding in Georgia. You can accelerate your work in the public health sector by collaborating with government agencies, public organizations and private companies through the global headquarters for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

Partner with Georgia’s research universities and the state of Georgia through the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA), expedite your research, and expand into new markets. Since the program began, more than 120 new technology companies and 5,000 positions were created as a result of the $2 billion in federal and private funding and $400,000 in Georgia Research Alliance investments since the program began in 1990. Georgia is currently ranks as the eight largest state in terms of number of biotechnology companies according to Ernst & Young.

You can also drive research and development by collaborating with sponsors, industry partners, the Medical College of Georgia and government programs through the Life Sciences Innovation Center in Augusta. Continue your research progress with qualified personnel trained in the latest research practices and partnerships with the Center for Biotechnology and Drug Design, which is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, private industry and the GRA.

Intellectual capital is thriving at world-class research facilities throughout the state. Mercer University, Emory University, Morehouse College and the Medical College of Georgia attract top scholars and researchers to work on prominent industry research projects through Georgia’s leading university system.

In a field rich with possibilities, continued momentum and economic prosperity will enrich everyone’s future. As the life science industry continues to thrive, Georgia companies and research entrepreneurs will continue to succeed through the programs, tools and funding resources found in the state of Georgia.
