University System

Georgia understands that knowledge is power – and with our extensive higher education system, we’re building a strong future for the state.

The University System of Georgia offers students a wide range of higher learning programs at 35 colleges and universities and an independent research unit. Various levels of education allow students to attain certificates, associate, baccalaureate, masters, doctoral or professional degrees within Georgia.

The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents was formed in 1931 in a reorganization of state government. It oversees 13 state universities, four research universities, two state colleges, two regional universities and 13 two-year universities. It works to ensure all Georgians have access to academic excellence and educational opportunities. Currently, Georgia’s institutions enroll more than 233,000 students and employ more than 9,000 faculty and 35,000 employees.

Georgia’s world-class universities and colleges provide a unique educational opportunity that is second to none. With knowledge in hand, Georgia is ready to deliver.
