Each year the Georgia Department of Economic Development begins a new search for Georgia companies that are making headway in new international markets. The annual Georgia Launching Opportunities by Exporting (GLOBE) Awards program began in 2014 as a way to recognize local businesses contributing to Georgia's economic growth through global trade. Since its inception, the GLOBE Awards have recognized more than 100 Georgia business from 32 counties across the state.

The export successes these companies have achieved are indicative of Georgia's global economic impact and its reputation as an international logistics hub. With the largest single-container port in North America and the world's most traveled airport, Georgia's world-class logistics infrastructure provides its businesses seamless access to export markets. In 2016, total trade between Georgia and the world exceeded $121.7 billion and exports reach more than $35.6 billion.

Any Georgia-based company that exported to a new country in 2017 is eligible to apply for a GLOBE Award. The selection process requires companies to complete a short online application accessible through GDEcD's Trade website. Deadline for submission is February 9, 2018.

This year's GLOBE Award Winners will be recognized at GDEcD's annual Go Global Reception on March 20, 2018 at the Atlanta History Center. This highly anticipated event will showcase Georgia's international economic development efforts and attendees will have the opportunity to network with Georgia's international representatives from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Europe, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
