Two Georgia-filmed Movies to Open this Weekend

One week following “Ride Along 2”s debut as a box office number one, two more Georgia-filmed movies open in wide release Friday, January 22: “The 5th Wave,” and “Dirty Grandpa.”

Based on the young adult novel by Rick Yancy, “The 5th Wave” stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Cassie, who must save her younger brother (Zackary Arthur) as four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. The dystopian PG-13-rated film shot in Atlanta, Madison, Winder, Hampton, Stone Mountain, Douglasville, Perry, Norcross and Kennesaw.

For the mature movie viewer, “Dirty Grandpa” is an R-rated feature staring Zac Efron and Robert DeNiro as a grandson/grandfather on an event-filled road trip to spring break in Daytona. Jason Kelly (Efron) is an uptight lawyer about to marry the boss’s bridezilla daughter until his randy ex-Army grandfather tricks him into taking to the road. Julianne Hough, Aubrey Plaza, Dermot Mulroney and Adam Pally also star.
