Five Things You Should Know about Georgia-lensed 'Ant-Man'

With so many movies and television shows choosing Georgia, it’s easy to overlook a few; it will be hard to pass over this Marvel giant, however. “Ant-Man,” starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, was filmed in and around the Atlanta area over the course of a few months. The first Marvel film shot in Georgia, “Ant-Man” follows a regular con-artist, Scott Lang (played by Rudd), who is armed with a super suit giving him the power to shrink in size while increasing his strength. Be sure to catch the movie for yourself on July 17th when it premieres in theaters across the country. In the meantime, here are five fun facts about its filming in Georgia!

  • Spent more than $106 million while filming in Georgia. Giving the state’s economy a super-  sized boost.
  • “Ant-Man” was the first film to use Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville. Pinewood Group is the world’s leading studio and production services operator with sound stages all over the world.
  • More than 22,000 hotel rooms housed the production crew for three months.
  • 3,759 Georgians were employed to help film the action-packed movie.
  • Look closely at the setting and you can recognize some landmark Atlanta buildings including the state-owned Archives Building, the Bank of America building, and Broad Street downtown.
