The Georgia Department of Economic Development is proud to share with you the 2014 Year in Review, an attempt to showcase how our partners, the communities and citizens of Georgia are working hard – day-to-day, month-to-month – to keep Georgia the No. 1 place for business.

To sum up economic development in a few words is like asking Albert Einstein what he did for a living. It's difficult to explain just how Georgians in 159 counties develop their economy, because it is more than just attracting jobs and investment to the state.

From the 374 company location announcements;

Grant funding for 80 organizations;

Assisting 4,000 companies with technical expertise;

A fourth consecutive year of record-breaking exports;

The film industry's $5.1 billion in economic impact;

And the record-breaking $53.6 billion generated by tourism in the state,

Economic development is a joint endeavor.

This endeavor includes our partners, our communities and the citizens of Georgia who enhance and promote the many qualities that make up Georgia's business climate, improving the overall quality of life in the state.

As we continue to tout our pro-business resources, highly skilled workforce, world-class transportation infrastructure and great quality of life, we will, together, keep Georgia a leader in the global marketplace.
