The U.S. Film Industry: Creating Jobs

It’s amazing to see the recently released film industry impact numbers from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), which shows that this industry supports 1.9 million jobs in the U.S. — from costume designers to make-up artists, stunt people to set builders, writers to actors, accountants to dry cleaners, and many more! In turn it also creates this ripple effect in other creative sectors of the economy like tourism, software development, music, and gaming, just to name a few. Nationally, $41 billion is contributed to over 300,000 businesses in a given year, along with more than $16 billion paid annually in federal and state tax.

In Georgia, the film and television industry is revitalizing communities across the state, directly employing nearly 23,500 people and generating an economic impact of $5.1 billion!
