'Powers,' First Series for Sony's new PlayStation Network, Shoots in Georgia

Sony’s plans to transform the PlayStation gaming console into a provider of exclusive content and their kicking it off with “Powers,” a 10-episode live action series shooting in Georgia from early September through the end of 2014. Set in a world where humans and super heroes co-exist, Sharlto Copley stars as a homicide detective tasked with investigating crimes involving superhuman powers. Michelle Forbes co-stars with Eddie Izzard, Noah Taylor, Susan Heyward, Olesya Rulin, Max Fowler and Adam Godley. The series is based on the comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.

The Sony PlayStation console currently provides streaming access to Netflix, Hulu, and other services. As Sony develops original PlayStation programming, the console will provide access to its own subscribers and compete with those services as a content provider.
