ComeTourGeorgia.com Named 'Outstanding Website' at the 2014 Internet Advertising Competition

The Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office’s website ComeTourGeorgia.com has won an Internet Advertising Competition Award (IAC) for “Outstanding Website!” ComeTourGeorgia.com was launched on March 26, 2013 in response to the increase in filmed-induced tourism in Georgia. The interactive website promotes Georgia’s film and music history, film tours, Georgia-filmed productions, film locations, destinations, festivals and other events in the industry.

"We're thrilled to be recognized as ‘Outstanding Website’ by the IAC, but what is even more exciting is the growth of interest and visitation to entertainment-related destinations across the state," said Lee Thomas, director of the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office. "Visitors can use tourgeorgiafilm.com as a planning tool to see locations where “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” or “The Walking Dead” are filmed. The site is a great resource for us to share news about the state’s film and music industries and to help enhance its long-term impact in Georgia."

tourgeorgiafilm.com has many unique features that contributed to its success including parallax scrolling, which provides an interesting and exploratory browsing experience, as well as Google Maps that help tie film and music tours to geo-locations providing visitors with the ability to form a sense of place and view amenities that are in the surrounding area. These features along with many others were included to provide an innovative and user-friendly browsing experience.

The IAC Awards were developed by the Web Marketing Association to honor excellence in online advertising, recognize the individuals and organizations responsible, and showcase the best in award-winning Internet advertising. IAC judges, comprised of professionals in the advertising and Internet worlds, selected winners based upon the following criteria: creativity, innovation, impact, design, copywriting and use of the media.
