Georgia Ranked No. 3 Film Production Center in U.S.

Georgia ranks third in the U.S. for feature film production, The Wrap reported March 6, ahead of New York, but behind Louisiana and California. According to the recently released 2013 Feature Film Production Study from FilmL.A., the six major studios and five largest independents released 108 films in 2013, 70 of which shot in the U.S.

Of those, 18 filmed in the Bayou State, 15 in California, and nine in Georgia. Fifteen shot in Canada, and 12 in the U.K.  New York hosted four.

Since the current version of the Film Tax Credit (HB1100) went into effect in 2008, the economic impact of the entertainment industry in Georgiato the state from the industry has grown from $526.1 million to $3.3 billion in fiscal year 2013. In six short years, Georgia has become a world leader in the entertainment industry and created thousands of jobs for Georgians in the industry. Here’s to giving Louisiana a run for its money in 2014!
