"Last Vegas" Showcases Atlanta too!

Now in wide release, CBS Films’ feature “Last Vegas” is indeed largely set in Las Vegas and it also shot there. But many of the interior and non-strip exterior scenes were actually shot around Atlanta. The film stars Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline as 60-something friends who gather in Las Vegas for a bachelor party. Atlanta nightclubs Vanquish and the Velvet Room make prominent appearances in the film, as does the Bethesda Aquatic Center in Lawrenceville, as a community center swimming pool.

For flashback scenes in 1955 and present day, filmmakers used a vacant storefront in the 400 block of Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta as Flatbush, and they used the exterior of the Georgia World Congress Center as the Ft. Myers Airport. Homes in LaVista Park, Dunwoody and Midtown were utilized as well as Redeemer Lutheran church in downtown Atlanta.

Elaborate interior sets were built on stages at Mailing Avenue Stageworks in Grant Park and those flats were later given to the Lifecycle Building Center on Murphy Avenue, keeping them out of the waste stream and put to good use.

It was fun to hear about these A-list stars frequenting our restaurants! We look forward to welcoming CBS Films back to Georgia any time.
